About Mr. Dastous
I am a native of Lowell, Massachusetts, Canadian Citizen, Georgia resident since 2002 and an educator for the last 29 years. Prior to working in education, I served in leadership roles for 3 major corporations here in the United States. Over the course of my educational career I have taught middle school Social Studies, middle school computer applications, and high school CADD and GIS. For 15 years I served a middle and high school assistant principal, principal, and a career academy CEO. It was my desire in 2022 to get back to my roots and teach students directly; that led me back into the classroom.
My earned degrees include a BS in Business from Western International University, an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology and Design from American Intercontinental University Online, Leadership Certification through Mercer University's McDonough Campus and an Ed.S. in Instructional Technology and Distance Education from Nova Southeastern University.
My passion for ice hockey has been ongoing for the last 55 years. In 2021 I earned my USA Hockey Master Coach License. The Level 5 is the highest certification available in USA Hockey. I currently coach the Atlanta Center Ice 16U A team, that plays within the Southern Youth Travel Hockey League (SYTHL).
Lisa and I have been married since April 9, 1999; we met "Under the Stars" at National Geographic Society. Our son, Benoît, graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Political Science and minor in Philosophy in December 2021. He is now the owner of Holistic Footy a soccer training company and the Director of First Team Operations for Piedmont Soccer Academy's UPSL Program.
